SVTLightnings.com has acquired a set of scan tools that can read the codes stored in the computer and reset the check engine light. The New scan tool is a New Generation Star ( NGS ) tester from Hickok. The same tool the Dealer uses. With the NGS we can swap PCM's, program keys, clear codes from ALL The modules in the Car. The PCM, HEC, GEM and other modules. The capability of the NGS is hard to beat.
Theoretically you you have 2 PCM's - One chipped and one spare unchipped. The NGS tool will allow you to swap the PCM's and program them to match the PATS system in the dash
If you are in the DFW area, for $25 we can hook up the
scan tool and tell you what the code is and reset the Check Engine Light (CEL).
If the problem persists the CEL will return. But the scan can help you understand
what the problem is and perhaps prevent an expensive trip to the dealer.
Do you have an aftermarket performance chip ? Curious what the chip does to your timing or other parameters ? With the scantool you can confirm that the Ignition Timing Advance is at a safe level throughout the power band.
